Harold L. Holliday, Sr. Montessori is a premier, free Montessori school in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Parents and community members are woven into Holliday’s fabric and are essential for our students’ success. Parents and community members work together, volunteering time and experience to help every child within Holliday succeed in school.

At Holliday, the Montessori philosophy allows our teachers to promote hands-on learning through exploration and discovery. Pre-K and Kindergarten Admission Requirements: All Pre-K age 3 and Pre-K age 4 students along with kindergarten students are eligible for admission based on available seats. They must be school ready and able to abide by school policies and expectations as indicated in “Behavioral Expectation Student Contract”, which will be distributed upon acceptance. Students must be three or four years old on or before July 31, 2021 to qualify for Pre-K. Kindergarten students must turn five on or before August 31, 2021. Returning students and siblings of current families are given preference for seating. Pre-K age 3 students entering Pre-K age 4 MUST REAPPLY for the next school year. Pre-K age 4 students entering kindergarten will automatically roll up to the next grade year. All new parents will be required will be required to attend a mandatory Montessori informational meeting before the beginning of school.

Admission Requirements (Grades 1 – 6): Previous Montessori experience is required for admission to first through sixth grades. Families must attend a parent meeting upon the student’s acceptance to the program.

Required documents to enroll in Kindergarten – 12th Grade:
(Kindergarten must be 5 years old by August 31)

  1. Birth Certificate
  2. Student's current immunization record
  3. Parent/guardian photo ID (Proof of guardianship, if required)
  4. Previous school records – transcript, behavior, attendance (grades 1st – 6th)
  5. Two proofs of residency (See “Acceptable Proofs of Residency” list below)
    • One from each column

Documents to in enroll for Pre-Kindergarten:
(Pre-Kindergarten must be 3 years old by August 31)

  1. Enrollment application
  2. Student's verification of birth (Birth Certificate)
  3. Student's current immunization record
  4. Parent/guardian photo ID (Proof of guardianship, if required)
  5. Two proofs of residency.
  6. Proof of income:
    • Two current pay stubs
    • Current TANF award letter
    • Current SSI verification
    • Unemployment letter
    • Current 1040A tax form with W-2's, (employer letter on company letterhead, notarized letter from employer)
    • Child support letter

  • Residency Affidavit – Must be notarized (find at kcpublicschools.org or Office of Admissions 2901 Troost)


  • Current utility bill: electric, water or gas. (Disconnect or shutoff notices will not be accepted. Bills must be within the last 30 days)
  • Personal Property Tax Receipt (Past year)
  • Homeowner’s/Rental Insurance Policy (Current year)
  • Social Services, Social Security Statement, or Other Legal/Court Documents
  • Pay stub/Pay check (within 30 days)
  • Bank statement (within 30 days)
